Biotin helps with building hair and nail strength. It also helps during weight loss. Biotin encourages nutrients and oxygen molecules to bind better with red blood cells which are then carried to other parts of the body. The hair follicles get adequate nutrition and become bigger and stronger. But there are topical medication available too that can show effects faster, when it concerns hair. Biotin does help with making hair stronger, but doesn’t claim to help with regrowth of hair.

During weight loss, biotin helps because it is required for the body’s metabolism functions. In fact in all of the body’s metabolism functions, in each of the cells, biotin has a role to play. The metabolism of fats and amino acids in the body help you in losing fat and in gaining muscle mass.

Effects on depression and other mental disorders/ imbalances

It may sound funny that a vitamin can help you get over a break up. But it’s true, you know! No one doubts the veracity or the intensity of your feelings and emotions. It’s just that sometimes you are a bit too sensitive to even mundane things especially due to some sort of vitamin and mineral deficiencies in your body. Effect on dry skin

Dermatitis is one of those conditions that are treated using biotin rich topical medication. But there are different types of dermatitis and not all can be treated with biotin. The one being discussed here is the drying and flaking of the skin of your scalp. This may mean irritation of the skin, inflammation or itching of the affected parts. There could be redness and pus formation too. Or simply put, you may even have perennial dandruff! Biotin helps with all these symptoms. Often they are just an indication of biotin deficiency.

This doesn’t mean that whenever you have dry skin you start using biotin based creams or supplements! Before you start with anything, always consult your doctor and ensure that it doesn’t interfere with any existing medication. But you don’t have to worry, since biotin is a water soluble vitamin and in case of any excesses will be excreted from your system automatically.
